African elephants are the largest animals walking the earth. According to the World Wildlife Fund, an elephant's trunk weighs an impressive 181kg, and posesses the dexterity to pick up a single grain of rice. An elephant's average lifespan is the same as that of human beings, they have larger brains than we do and they exhibit a wide range of intelligent behaviours including problem-solving, tool use, self-awareness and emotional complexity.
